December 2025 Update:
The Library’s multi-year planning of an interior rearrangement is finally coming to fruition in January 2026. This is the largest portion of the project where the Library is addressing our need for small meeting spaces, requiring furniture and shelving rearrangement within the current floor plan as outlined in our prior announcements.
Due to the movement of furniture and shelves, the installation of the pods, and delivery of new furniture for the YA space, the Library will be closed on the following dates:

- Thursday, January 8, 2026
- Saturday, January 10, 2026
- Monday, January 12, 2026
- Tuesday, January 13, 2026 (New date added)
These dates are when a majority of this project will be completed, with two remaining updates coming at a later date.
The final design transforms the current Young Adult Room into the Study Room by adding two pods and a new reading area with comfortable reupholstered chairs. The Study Room will also house the copier/printer, and the current copier/printer area will be converted into a small reading space that can be closed off with a door. Since the YA area is being relocated into the Main Hall of the Library, a cabana will be installed to define that space. The door to the small reading area and the cabana for the YA area will be installed at a later date and any related closings will be announced ahead of time.
May 2025 Announcement:

To add more robust shelving solutions into the Children's area, we swapped out the PC desk/special display shelf with a new set of bookshelves on casters! The new shelf will allow us to comfortably grow the graphic novel and read-along collections for years to come. (Do not feel sorry for the old PC desk/special display shelf. It has found a new home at Granville Public Library!)
The community has long needed private meeting/studying spaces that are hard to find in town. We heard this from people asking about it, in the strategic planning focus group discussions, and in the public forum held in June 2023. We have been trying to find a way to create these spaces for our visitors. After years of planning, we have come up with a design. The Library will be installing three "pods" that will provide private spaces for small groups to have discussions, or a person to have a remote meeting without being disruptive to others. In order to fit the pods into the building's existing floor plan, some rearrangement is required. We will be shifting the collections around, moving the audiovisual collections to the back half of the building, and the Young Adult area out to the main hall. The current Young Adult Room will become a study and reading area, while also housing the large print and test preparation materials.
